This year for Father’s Day consider shopping at Marshalls and T.J.Maxx–great places to find the same designer merchandise as department and specialty stores but for up to 60% less for every different father out there. Here are just a few gift ideas that are perfect for Dad – no matter how hard he is to buy for:
For the “Techie” Dad: If dad is always in search of the newest gadgets, why not pick up some great accessories to pair with them. Get some MP3 add-ons like speakers, headphones or a leather carrying case to make his music listening experience a special one. You can also grab some fun laptop and office supplies that can make work more enjoyable.
For the “Sports Enthusiast”: For the sports fanatic in your life purchase some apparel from his favorite sports team so he can showcase his pride. You can complete the package with a new pair of brand-name sneakers.
For The Gourmet Chef Fanatic: With summer right around the corner help get him prepared with grilling tools and unique spices. A new recipe book and apron will guarantee a summer full of tasty treats.
For the “Beach Bum”: If dad is happiest at the beach, help him update those faded swim trunks and worn out flip flops with brand new beach gear. Add in a beach towel and a pair of designer shades to complete the look.
Thank you TJ Maxx/Marshalls for sending me a gift card so the Little Write Gal and I can go shopping for her Dad’s present this year. Stay tuned to see what we find!
Check out this adorable t-shirt I got today at my favorite women’s boutique, Anne’s. It says “I Love Shopping!” (that’s me!) and is made by a new company called “keep it simple girl.” You can get a shopping t-shirt like mine or they also have the keep it simple girl — ipod girl, beach girl, martini girl, and coffee cup girl. The shirts are available in sizes S, M, L, and XL. If you read Cooking with Paula Deen you probably saw the keep it simple girl™ products featured in the May/June Issue. They are in the Paula’s Picks section on page 16.
These t-shirts are short-sleeved and let me tell you mine is super comfy. It is too pretty to sleep in but it is so soft it feels like my pajamas. The keep it simple girl t-shirts retail for $18 and you can get yours by contacting Anne’s. When you talk to Melissa or Irene tell them The Write Gal sent you!

Tags: Spanx for men
Spanx is expanding their market to include men’s products. That’s right…your man can now look leaner by wearing the new Spanx compression t-shirt. According to Spanx, this product firms the chest, flattens the stomach, improves posture, and supports the lower back. Constructed of Egyptian cotton, the shirts are 19% spandex and appear just like regular t-shirts. They are priced much higher, however, between $55 and $58. Wow, that’s a lot of $$ for an undershirt.
So what do you think? Would your man wear Spanx? Something tells me the male model in this picture doesn’t need it.
I love watching the pre-show of the Academy Awards so much better than the long and drawn out show itself. My favorite part of course is the Red Carpet and who are this year’s Oscar Fashion Hits & Misses. Here are my top pics from last night’s show (in no particular order)
HIT- Sandra Bullock. This dress is spectacular and Sandra Bullock looked amazing wearing it. Her hair, makeup, and jewelry are flawless.
HIT – Kathy Ireland. Kathy Ireland was dazzling in this gorgeous black gown. She did a wonderful job hosting ABC’s Oscar pre-show.
HIT – Queen Latifah. Queen Latifah proves that you don’t have to be a size 2 to be beautiful. She was stunning in this pink dress.
MISS – Faith Hill. This “Morticia Adams” look on Faith Hill did not work at all. Faith-keep the fishnets for Halloween not the Red Carpet.
MISS – Demi Moore. I couldn’t tell where Demi Moore’s fake tan ended and this dress began. I was not a fan of the ruffles either.
Who were your Oscar Fashion Hits & Misses this year?
Check out the latest shoes from Brighton, these adorable little flip flops. Aren’t they the cutest? I love all things Brighton so I am sure I will love these too. They are so festive for Spring and Summer. I wish the warm weather was here now.
My local NC girls can get theirs at Anne’s, my favorite women’s boutique. If you don’t live close by just call my friend Melissa at Anne’s and she will mail you a pair. Tell her the Write Gal sent you.
Come on Summer. How much longer is it going to take to get you here?
Wishing it was flip flop season,
I am so excited to tell you about a company I discovered online called Executees.net. They make the cutest crystal t-shirts and you are sure to sparkle and shine while wearing one! Check out the shirt they sent me for review, a short-sleeved v-neck t-shirt featuring double hearts. Isn’t this the sweetest thing to wear for Valentine’s Day?
All of their t-shirts are made from Genuine Premium CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements. This adorable heart tee is available in sizes Small-3X. The regular price of this shirt is $64.99 but currently they are on sale at Executees for $49.99. I love my t-shirt because if you don’t already know from my blog, I am all about some bling. I have some other crystal t-shirts and I have to say that I prefer Executees because you can actually see the crystals on my heart tee. They are not microscopic like some other brands you may have tried. My t-shirt is a BELLA tee and it is super soft. Another thing that I love about their product line is that you can get anything you want blinged out on a t-shirt. If I am lucky enough to be sponsored for Blog-Her ’10, you can bet I am going to have one of these saying “The Write Gal.”
Tracy over at Executees is giving away a v-neck short-sleeved crystal double hearts tee like mine to one lucky Write Gal reader. Here are the details of how to enter:
Visit the Executees Web site and tell me in a comment which shirt is your favorite (other than the Double Heart).

Please leave one comment per extra entry as the winner will be chosen randomly. The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. EST on February 8th. to residents of the United States only. The winner will be notified via email and will have 72 hours to respond back to me. If no response is received another winner will be drawn.
Good luck and thanks for entering! The next time you need to purchase a Swarovski crystal premium t-shirt, be sure and visit Executees and tell Tracy that the Write Gal sent you!
Hi there! This is a guest post by Ashley aka Sister of The Write Gal. I was really excited to try the Blue Sky scrub line and they did not disappoint. They were so comfortable! They are made from 65%polyester+35%cotton, but felt like satin. The top has a nice cut that eliminates the boxy unisex look you find with most scrubs. And the drawstring pant was very comfortable, which is unlike most drawstring bottoms I’ve worn before. Also I liked the fun color coordinating drawstring. I received so many compliments all day and co-workers were literally touching my scrubs to feel the material. The peacock color I ordered was so pretty and vibrant. I would like to see their line offer scrubs with more pockets. Hopefully their upcoming line of scrub jackets will provide more pockets.
I originally ordered a medium in both top + bottoms (my normal scrub size). I ended up having to exchange the top for a large because I felt it was a bit small. The Blue Sky exchange was completely hassle free! Return postage was paid by their company and I received my exchange within the week!
These scrubs are high quality and provided all day comfort. Not to mention the are MADE IN THE USA!! Thanks to the Blue Sky scrub company for allowing me to try their scrubs!
