Ordering glasses online is easy from EyeBuy Direct (Review and Giveaway)

eyebuydirectlogoI have been enjoying my new pair of prescription eyeglasses from EyeBuyDirect.  They have a wide selection of high quality eyeglasses, from designer sunglasses to rimless frames and reading glasses, all at affordable prices. I can tell you that I was hesitant at first about ordering glasses sight unseen online, because glasses are just traditionally one of those things I want to try before I buy.  EyeBuyDirect makes this possible with their special interactive demo called “Eye Try” to help you choose the perfect pair of glasses because you can actually “see” what the glasses look like on you before you buy them. You upload a face forward picture of yourself, and play with the size, color and shape of your prescription glasses. The site also features tips to choose what shapes and colors look best on certain types of faces and skin colors.

After looking at lots of choices online, I decided to enlist the Little Write Gal’s help for a second opinion.  Her first choice was the pair that I ordered, the Carmen Bronze, pictured below.

carmenbronze

Here is a picture of me wearing the Carmen Bronze, using the “Eye Try” feature which I saw before ordering my glasses:

Here is a picture of me wearing my new glasses, which was taken after I received them in the mail.  I love them!

myglasses

One thing that impressed me about my EyeBuyDirect glasses was the quality.  I actually like my new pair better than my old pair which I bought at my optometrist’s office. My old pair was almost $500 (total) and this pair was less than $100 including my lenses.  You would never know they were so inexpensive because the quality and style are superb! This information is from the EyeBuyDirect Web site:

EyeBuyDirect is able to create high quality, cheap eyeglasses because we are the manufacturer, supplier and retailer, so we are able to do every step of the process in our global prescription and manufacturing program. Buy glasses online with EyeBuyDirect, whether it’s reading glasses or designer eyewear, and we promise you the industry’s best quality and service.

My friends at EyeBuyDirect are very generously giving one lucky Write Gal reader a $100 Gift Certificate to spend on a pair of prescription glasses of their choice!  This is for a pair of eyeglasses but does not include the designer eyewear or sunglasses. I know you are dying to enter so here are the details:

Main Entry

Visit the EyeBuyDirect Web site and tell me in a comment how you would spend your $100 Gift Certificate.

Extra Entries

  • Tell me in a comment something you learned from visiting the EyeBuy Direct Web site (5 extra entries).
  • Follow me on Twitter @writegal and tweet my contest (5 extra entries per day).  By tweeting this contest once per day you can come back here and leave me 5 comments per day.  So…that means technically when the contest is over you could possibly have 140 extra entries if you tweet once a day.

Please leave one comment per extra entry as the winner will be chosen randomly. The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. EST on September 28, 2009 to residents of the United States only.  The winner will be notified via email shortly thereafter and will have 72 hours to respond back to me.  If no response is received another winner will be drawn.

Good Luck!

i learned Skin tones are another guideline you can use to decide whether a pair is suitable for your face and complexion. People with warm-toned skin, or golden or apricot undertones, generally look great in strong bold colors like gold, copper, orange, coral, red, warm blue and yellow. Those with cool-toned skin, or pink or rosy undertones, are typically more suited to black, plum, dark brown, magenta and blue frames.

I learned # 2: Color Forecasting for Autumn/Winter = “This retro-inspired palette of colors like magenta, mauve, sepia, dark mustard and salmon is earthy yet has a distinctively bold and rich feel. The rusty browns are reminiscent of autumn´s falling leaves while the warm plum-type colors will brighten any winter´s day. Glasses frames in burgundy would go perfectly with an outfit based around any other shade in this palette, particularly copper and olive green.”

  79. 91 angelface0821 September 7, 2009 at 10:30 am

I learned # 3: Not ever wearing glasses, I had no idea you have to measure your pupil distance (which makes perfect sense, of course!) “In most of the cases, PD value ranges between 57 mm to 65 mm with most common being 63 mm.”

    I learned # 4: Eye Buy Direct has a loyalty program =

    * Get 5 points for registration

    * Get further points every time you complete an order:
    Order value between $7- $10 = 10 Points
    Order value between $11- $50 = 15 Points
    Order value between $51 – $100 = 20 Points

    * Tell a friend about EyeBuyDirect.com and receive 20 points when he or she makes an order !

    10 points = $ 1.00 USD

  185. 228 mickeyfan September 15, 2009 at 2:22 pm

The Pupilary distance is required to order glasses online. In order to do this you should:
Step – 1 Place a simple mm ruler on your nose so that the starting point of the ruler is exactly at your left or right eye pupil. Keep the scale straight.

Step – 2 Stand in front of a mirror or ask a friend to measure the distance between the pupils while you look straight ahead.

Step – 3 Repeat this three times for accuracy.

One thing I learned from the site is that EyeBuyDirect offers a full refund, no questions asked, within 7 days of purchase (except on designer or sports frames) and a 70% refund after 7 days — very good policy that ensures the satisfaction of the customer! Overall, it appears that the company really cares about its customer service.

I would find a classy pair of glasses, I have two pairs now that cost $8 and I love them but I would like something a bit more classy and fancy than my plain wire frames. I would also make sure to get that nifty anti-glare on my lenses that I couldn’t afford on my last pairs!

What a wonderful selection they have! I would love to win this because my vision insurance helps pay for glasses OR contacts once a year……so I got new contacts, but can’t get new glasses and I need them to wear when I take my contacts out to clean, or if I scratch my eye and can’t wear the contacts for a while. Nice contest!!

I’d buy the Pash frames with the magic color change lens to turn them into sunglasses outside, plus the UV coating, and that’s still less than $50. Unless someone at EyeBuy can steer me towards a pair with even larger lenses, I’ll get two pair of these, so I can have a spare.
