I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving weekend. I am because this year I am spending Thanksgiving with my sister in San Diego! I want to tell you about this new bag I have been carrying…The Hip Heart Messenger bag by Brighton. My friend Melissa let me borrow hers for the trip. Its rounded silhouette fits really closely against me which is an important feature for a handbag at the airport. It’s strap is adjustable so no matter what height you are this bag will fit you well. It is pretty too and its soft Woodluxe leather features 61 nailheads to make the hip heart applique. This is the first time I have ever carried a bag out of Woodluxe leather which has a vintage feel to it without feeling overly antiqued or distressed. It actually takes 12 hours for this type of leather to reach its softness.
Thanks Melissa for letting me borrow The Hip Heart Messenger bag. If you are looking for a perfect Christmas gift you should think about buying a Brighton handbag. Not only does my friend Melissa carry this bag, she has many other ones to choose from in her boutique, Anne’s. You can contact her to order any Brighton handbag or Brighton jewelry. Tell her the Write Gal sent you!
Normally I think Kim Kardashian is a fashion icon. I love to watch Keeping up with the Kardashians just to see what she is wearing. When Kim K first reached a celebrity status I think her fashion was more of a don’t, but the last few years she has reached icon status in my opinion. So imagine my surprise when I saw this picture circulating online this week of Kim K wearing a *gasp* arm warmer at a basketball game. An arm warmer, really? I definitely do not approve.
Do you think this arm warmer is couture or crazy? My vote is crazy.
I was in my favorite boutique Anne’s this week looking at the new Fall Brighton handbags. I *wish* I had a million dollars so I could change out my bag with every outfit. My absolute favorite is The Jane Convertible Hobo which is a gorgeous teal color (pictured left). It looks so beautiful up against chocolate brown. Teal and chocolate – a redhead’s two favorite colors (or at least this redhead).
Another bag I really like this season is the Hip Heart Messenger Bag which is inspired by pinwheel quilts. I would LOVE to have this bag for my next trip to San Diego which will be in November. It is the kind of bag that I would feel comfortable carrying around in an airport because of how close it fits to your body. I also like the strap which adjusts from 20″ to 22.” No matter what height you are, this bag would work for you.
The Muse Croco Shoulderbag which is pictured here in a beautiful Sandstone color is the perfect-sized bag. In addition to this shimmery neutral, this bag comes in Cherry, Bronze, and Grape. The reason why I think this bag is perfect is because of its smaller size which is 13″W x 8″H x 3 1/2″D. I am famous for cramming everything I own into my handbag. I think I need a bag this size so I could be more organized. I really like the hardware on this bag too which is even prettier in person.
These are my favorite bags so far this season. If you see anything you like be sure to give Melissa at Anne’s a call. She can order any of these bags for you and ship nationwide. You can view Brighton’s full handbag selection here. If Melissa doesn’t have it in stock she can get it for you. Tell her The Write Gal sent you.

Fabulous TV (& movies too)
I have been singing The Golden Girls theme song ALL day so I thought I would post it on my blog so I could stop having to go to You Tube to listen to it.
After months of speculation, American Idol finally announced today that joining Randy Jackson at the judges’ table this season will be Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. When Idol debuts its 10th season in January 2011, Randy will be the only original judge remaining.
I am dying to know if you are going to tune in for the new season or do you think Simon Cowell is irreplaceable. I don’t think anyone could ever replace Simon’s black t-shirt but I applaud Fox for giving J.Lo and Tyler a shot. Both of them are more interesting to me than Kara DioGuardi.
I haven’t decided if I am going to tune in yet. Weigh in…who’s gonna watch?
When you get a certain age I guess people start wondering WHY you don’t have wrinkles. I am not 40 yet but am getting closer (gasp!). Recently several people have asked me why don’t have any wrinkles around my eyes. I always tell them about Origins – A Perfect World for Eyes. I have been using it since I was 19 years old and discovered it while I was in college. I can tell you then that I never dreamed that I would still be using the same product in my late 30s. The bottom line is this product WORKS. I love the way it feels on my skin and the smell helps wake me up in the mornings. A little product goes a long way and while you might think the $32.00 price tag is expensive, one bottle will last a long time. It is worth every penny!
From the Origins Web site: Origins visionary formula instantly makes skin under eyes look and feel unbelievably smooth, renewed, relaxed. Vitamin A firms and tones. Mica brightens, dark circles lighten. And nature’s avant-guardian, Silver Tip White Tea, blocks oxidation while White Birch Extract helps lessen the appearance of new creases, crinkles, lines and wrinkles in the future.
If you try Origins let me know what you think. Origins is in no way sponsoring this post nor did I receive any free product from them. However, if anyone from Origins reads this post and wants to send me free product I would be glad to take it LOL. I thought this would make an excellent blog post since I actually was told twice this week already how great my eyes look! I thought I would share. My friend Anita says I should work for Origins because I love them so much.
Here’s to younger looking skin,
Recently I broke my favorite pair of flip flops, the Savannah by OKA b. During the summer you can find me in either my black or copper pair almost every single day. Needless to say I was devastated when the piece between my toes broke. After emailing the OKA b. I was instructed to complete the return form and mail them my broken shoe. I didn’t even need my original receipt for proof of purchase. About a week after I put my broken shoe in the mail, I received a brand new pair of Savannahs. Now that is excellent customer service!!
These are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. It’s no wonder OKA b.’s Web site is called shoesthatloveyou.com. My sister and I walked in our Savannahs for hours all over San Diego recently. OKA b. now has a bridal collection. I wish I would have had these at my wedding. If you are getting married soon you have to try some!
Thanks OKA b. for providing excellent customer service. I think I am a customer for life.
